Reviews from the US

Our wines have recently received some new recognition from leading critics in the United States.

Both the Wine Advocate and Jeb Dunnuck’s website have published new scores and tastings notes and we are delighted to share these with you:

The Wine Advocate 2026

The wines were tasted and scored by Matthew Luczy and come from his article:  Argentina: The Refined Classicism of Luján de Cuyo.

Fabre Montmayou Gran Reserva Malbec 2024                                                               RP 92

Drink Date: 2026 – 2029

“The 2024 Fabre Montmayou Gran Reserva Malbec is made from old vines in Vistalba, specifically from the center rows of this parcel, which receive less water from the flood irrigation used to farm it. An inky nose of black fruits, anise and graphite introduces a soft, enveloping mouthfeel that retains poise and refinement despite its overall rich profile. The finish is similarly measured and well-defined, lingering with an additional degree of tension than one often finds in Vistalba.”

Fabre Montmayou Reserva Cabernet Franc 2025                                      RP 90

Drink Date: 2026 – 2028

“Originating from Alto Agrelo and matured in a mix of stainless steel and second-use barrels, the 2025 Fabre Montmayou Cabernet Franc Reserva is a sleek example of Luján de Cuyo that overdelivers at its price point. Dark chocolate, black plums and resinous flourishes mark the nose, followed by a velvety and polished mouthfeel and a lifted, herbal finish.”

Jeb Dunnuck, Argentina 2026

Our wines were tasted and reviewed as part of a feature article: Argentina 2026: The Greatness Ramps Up, by Senior Editor and wine critic; Virginie Roone. She comments how “Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc continue to lead the way, with advocates and adventurers carving out further potential for excellent Pinot Noir.”

Fabre Montmayou Gran Reserva Malbec 2024                                             94

“From the oldest part of the producer’s parcels, the heart, the 2024 Malbec Gran Reserva is aged 12 months in French oak barrel but only a small percent new. Full-bodied, supple blue fruit and violet aromatics ride along an unctuous palate of rich concentration that will benefit from further aging. Hold and drink 2030-2036.”

Fabre Montmayou Cabernet Franc Reserva 2024                                      91

“Decades ago, this producer was one of the few to be making Cab Franc. All varietal, the 2024 Cabernet Franc Reserva is classic in style, rich and herbaceous with moderate oak influence and medium-bodied intensity. Supple tannins coat the brightness of the redcurrant and berry with traces of oak spice and peppercorn. Drink now through 2032.”

Fabre Montmayou Reserva Malbec 2024                                                        90

“From Vistalba, the oldest part of Lujan, the 2024 Malbec Reserva is a fruit-driven wine with a supple mouthfeel, moderate complexity, and easy tannins. Low in vigor, the old vines offer consistency and a rich expression of blue fruit, weighty and full-bodied with velvety length. Drink now.”

Fabre Montmayou Pinot Noir  2024                                                                    90

“A small-production offering from one of the highest vineyards in Gualtallary, where it’s extremely cold and the grapes hang a long time, the 2024 Pinot Noir is undeniably a mountain wine. The tannins are angular and firm, the red fruit concentrated, not rich, jammy, or round. Great acidity supports a medium-bodied palate of red fruit, dried herb, black tea, and cardamom with a dusting of oak around the edges. The 20% whole-cluster fermentation adds further structure. Hold and drink 2028-2034.”
